I practice as a periodontist and implant surgeon at Prosthodontics Associates in Toronto. I am also a clinical instructor for undergraduate and graduate dental students and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee at U of T representing clinical instructors.
I help Build Your Smile Foundation (BYSF) as the Chief of Clinical Operations in volunteer outreach programs in Uganda.
I have served on RCDSO Quality Assurance Committee; Currently I am a Practice Advisor in the Quality Assurance Department at RCDSO.

If elected as an Executive committee:
It would be a great privilege to serve our dental community by sharing the humble experiences that I have gained through the past 20 years of my professional life in Toronto.
Immigration bring s lots of changes and challenges to our personal and professional lives. I believe that with the help of IODA we can make this professional transition easier and faster for our colleagues who have newly joined or want to join the dental community here.
I will give you a summary of what I can contribute and will leave it to members' suggestions and the organization to implement it towards the members' benefit.
Practicing under different regulations and Standards of Practice is challenging. My position in RCDSO has given me a deep insight into how regulatory/legal system works in Ontario. Knowing the system, our rights, responsibilities and limitations empowers us to practice with more peace of mind and know how to handle the professional challenges when they come up our way. I am more than happy to help members with a better understanding of the Regulations and Standards of Practice.

My academic experiences at U of T, teaching and participating in different academic committees have provided me with invaluable information about the academic system, this can help to guide the candidates for pursuing their career via academic means. Continuing education is the cornerstone of continuous learning. my affiliation with U of T since 2002 has kept me in touch with leaders in our field and to be able to assess the latest evidence based dental advancements. working as a general practitioner and later as a specialist, has helped me to better understand daily challenges we face on both sides and I can tailor my lectures to address those issues and to the need of the members. I hope we can all work together and form a strong voice for the Iranian dental community regardless of the stage of our careers. This organization needs to be supportive, open, fair and collaborative. I would be privileged to serve.

Language:
• Fluent: English, Turkish, Persian / Intermediate: Spanish, Arabic

If elected as an Executive committee:
As a foreign-trained dentist that went through the equivalency process, I know the downsides of getting prepared for the exams (the level of stress being tolerated, the financial problems associated). I hope we can make this organization a platform/directory to help our other fellows who are at the beginning of this road.
- Living in a multicultural country and being a health care provider, we should make ourselves familiar with different cultures to be able to run a successful business. A successful dental office cannot be achieved by only being a perfect dentist! When I started as a foreign-trained dentist I felt the lack of available resources/training/courses in this matter and I do believe this could be an area to work on.
- As we all know the culture of practicing dentistry in Canada is very different from that of Iran. We can dedicate a section on the IODA website to introduce the practice culture in Canada; How to communicate with patients? How to talk with the patient so that they accept their major treatments. What is the goal of Hygiene recalls, how a recall should be done & etc.
- During the past couple of years, there is a huge flow of younger generation Iranians who came to Canada and seeking to find professional jobs and on the other side, I am sure all the practice owners in our community experienced the hassle of staffing very much! My goal is to help these fellows to get enrolled in their new dental carrier which will benefit the dentists as well.
- Office management! The famous topic of any dental office in Canada! Once the abovementioned points are achieved it is halfway through.
Growing is not possible without sharing!
