Brief Bio:

A partner in Torkin Manes LLP’s Litigation Group, Robert’s practice encompasses all facets of health law and professional discipline. His work is exclusively focused on advocating for regulated health professionals, especially on behalf of dentists and dental specialists.

Robert has extensive experience with, and unique insight into, the issues facing regulated health professionals. His communication and advocacy skills, coupled with his expertise in the regulated health professionals landscape, have enabled Robert to adeptly represent clients before all levels of Court in Ontario. He also routinely advocates on behalf of regulated health professionals in College proceedings (e.g., complaint and s.75 investigations, discipline proceedings, registration matters, and incapacity proceedings), hospital privilege disputes, audits, and matters before the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board and the Health Services Appeal and Review Board.

His clients have consistently praised him for his ability to grasp the intricacies and nuances of their respective practices. This perspective has made Robert a valued advisor and advocate to his clients. He invests substantial time and energy at the outset to strategize ways in which his clients can preserve their reputations and livelihood, especially in high-stakes litigious circumstances. As a complement to his law practice, he is a sought-after speaker on topics related to regulated health professionals across a wide variety of forums, including at professional faculties at universities and colleges in Ontario.

As a reflection of Robert’s knowledge and extensive experience in this area of law, he has been an elected member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Health Law Executive since 2017 and is past Chair of the Executive.
