Title: “Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office and IODA's AGM”
Core 1 - Presented by Dr. Ravi Vasudeva, BSc (Hons), DDS, MSc (Dental Anaesthesia)
Acute life threatening medical emergencies, although rare, can occur in a dental office setting. Emergencies can range from the anxious patient who experiences syncope to an acute life threatening anaphylaxis. Dentists must be prepared to recognize and respond appropriately to such emergencies.
This one day course will focus on the prevention, recognition and management of medical emergencies and complications in the dental office. Specific protocols to manage emergencies will be discussed. Pharmacology and mechanism of action of the emergency drugs required and mandated by the RCDSO will be reviewed.
