Title: An Overview of Helpful Protocols in Oral Surgery for the General Practitioner 

Speaker: Dr. Eric Ebrahimi DDS, MSc., FRCD(C) Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

CE points: 2-hour category 2, limited to IODA Gold and paid Silver members only.

Description: The aim of this presentation is to review various popular topics in dento-alveolar surgery through case presentations and provide useful and easy to follow protocols that will aid dentists in treatment planning and surgery.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to :

1. Manage wisdom teeth: when to monitor vs. when to intervene surgically.

2. Manage impacted second molars

3. Manage patients on anti-thrombotic drugs

4. Manage patient on anti-resorptive drugs

5. Manage oral-antral communication post extraction

Speaker:Dr. Eric Ebrahimi DDS, MSc., FRCD(C) Oral Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. Eric Ebrahimi obtained his bachelorette degree from the University of Toronto in 2006. He then went on to complete his DDS degree from the University of Toronto in 2010. Following this he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and subsequently finished a residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with a Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto. Dr. Ebrahimi practices full scope oral surgery in private practice at Horizon Oral Surgery in Vaughan and as well at Mount Sinai Hospital with special focus on management of medically compromised patients. He is a clinical instructor and staff surgeon of the General Practice Residency program of the University of Toronto at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Ebrahimi is also a clinical instructor for the undergraduate oral surgery program at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry.
