Bio:

Ravi Vasudeva, BSc (Hons), DDS, MSc (Dental Anaesthesia)

Dr. Ravi Vasudeva is a specialist in Dental Anaesthesia with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. He received his dental degree from the University of Toronto and went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency at Rochester General Hospital, in Rochester, New York. He returned to the University of Toronto to complete his post-graduate training in the specialty of Dental Anaesthesia and currently teaches in the Dental Anaesthesia graduate program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. In addition, Dr. Vasudeva maintains a full-time referral-based specialty dental practice in Oakville, Ontario. He lectures widely on topics of local anesthesia, oral and nitrous oxide sedation, medical emergencies in the dental office and other anaesthesia related topics

Post-Operative Pain Control In Dentistry

Management of dental pain is an essential part of clinical practice. Post-operative dental pain can safely and effectively be managed with nonopioid and opioid analgesics.

This course will focus on the management of acute and post-operative dental pain. The course will review the basic pharmacology of analgesic drug classes, including their relative efficacy for dental pain, and will suggest appropriate regimens based on pain intensity.

Course Objectives:

- Review pharmacology of opioid and nonopioid analgesics used for acute and post-operative pain control in dentistry.

- Recommend an appropriate dosing regimen for analgesics based on pain intensity.
