Dr. Chris Swayze graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Western Ontario, in 1993; completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at London Health Sciences Centre & St. Joseph's Health Care London in 1994; obtained his MBA for Science and Technology from Queen’s University in 2000; and in 2012 he received the Osgoode Certificate in Health Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. He joined the staff of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), the regulatory body for dentists in Ontario, Canada, in 2002 and held numerous positions over more than 16 years. Dr. Swayze was the Manager, Report, in the Professional Conduct and Regulatory Affairs Department. There, he oversaw a team that investigated allegations of professional misconduct, including standards of practice, professional boundaries, billing and infection prevention and control. He was involved with the complaints and disciplinary processes, remedial education, mentoring and practice monitoring at the RCDSO, and helped develop several College standards, guidelines, and practice advisories. In 2019, Dr. Swayze left the RCDSO and joined the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, as Director, Continuing Dental Education. As Director, Dr. Swayze is responsible for the development and implementation of high-quality continuing dental education for domestic and international practitioners.
