Description: As the population ages, more and more patients are presenting seeking dental implant therapy. Many patients are interested in a permanent solution for their missing teeth, or to increase the retention of their dentures. Whilst implants have been shown to be reliable long-term in the healthy, non-smoking population, case selection remains paramount in figuring out which patients are good candidates for dental implant therapy. This presentation aims to review the basics of dental implants, aid in case selection, and speak about surgical aids that can be used to help facilitate proper placement.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to:
1) Basic understanding of pre-surgical consultation for patients seeking dental implants
2) Basics of dental implantology
3) Proper case selection and triage
